We’ll post a wrap up to the Mystery in a Month workshop, which concluded today. Until I get the pictures, I’ll hold off on naming the winner and two runners up for the Brendan DuBois First Paragraph Award. The final day saw eight writers finish the series with a great presentation by author Diane Sawyer.
We’ll also create a photo gallery page and post comments from those who attended all three sessions. We learned a lot from this first venture into a unique workshop structure and expect to make the next one even better. (Stay tuned for updates for that this summer.)
I personally only got five pages into my short story (having missed a week by being out of town, then the following week by being out of sorts!), but know where I’m going, I think, and hope to finish it by the end of May. We had a mix of people working on short stories and novels, and that seemed to work fine.

Sorry to have missed the final session. Sounds like it all went very well. Perhaps I can make another complete set later on.
Joan,
We missed you, but understand. Check back in about a week for pictures of the final section. I’ll send you Diane’s material. (It wasn’t a lot as she mostly shared submission requirements, but she did have a handout you can easily duplicate.) She’s also going to speak to our monthly group later this year, going over some stuff she didn’t have time for today. You’ll get the monthly emails, and can always check the website.
